Day 348: Need Your Prayers for Gonzo!

This is story bout a very sweet Golden mix boy who go by name of Gonzo.

Gonzo is sweetest of boys, and while his profile has not yet been updated... it very soon will be (when my the Mom aka GRRH web"master" work frew tears and get it done)...

And so for now, here is his story in enlarged pitchers (but you gotta click on them once and then maybe again to enlarge them)...

And I let the Mom tell you more bout him.... [signing out... from the Luke]

GRRH discovered Gonzo when he was in a shelter in East Texas. We brought him in and discovering that his elbow was dislocated, we immediately had it repaired.

Unfortunately, in the course of his recovery, he never learned to truly use that leg again, and it began to cause him pain...

Another visit to our orthopedic specialist, and we were advised of nerve deterioriation in that leg, as well as hip problems on the same side. We assume that Sweet Boy was hit by a car prior to our rescuing him... and we are committed to making his life as happy as it can possibly can be... and that's a lot because he is genuinely a very happy boy!

These decisions have been difficult. And emotionally, we are devastated. But the decision today has been to have his left front leg amputated. There was no chance he would ever use the leg again, and dragging it has caused his left hip to become dislocated, requiring additional surgery to replace it.

UPDATE: Gonzo is doing well, following his surgery today. He will be able to return to a foster home tomorrow, but there will be an extensive time of recovery. Once stable, he will return for surgical repair or replacement of his hip.

To meet Gonzo, is to fall in love with him. He's a bundle of happiness, sweetness and love.

Gonzo's care is obviously going to be very long term, and we appreciate your willingness to help. Please keep this sweet boy in your thoughts and prayers! And if you are so moved, your donations are tax deductible... and more appreciated than you could ever know.

On behalf of Gonzo, we thank you. Life's not fair. But we make every attempt to make up for it!
