Day 442: Oops I Ate It!
And then when I saw award, I immediately misread it... I thought it say "Poops I ate it!" and I thought, I got this one in the bag! But the Mom quickly correct me, so here go:
I am REALLY good boy when it come to the Mom food. I have never stolen any fing off of the counter (looked, sniffed but did not take) or the table or her plate.
As evidence, I offer you this pitcher... taken of me some 15 days after Hurricane Ike took my tricity, my cool airs, my frigerator, my lights, my tv, my compy... oops, I digress.
My point is that even when I pretty sure the Aunt Karen make the cookies for me, I yield to the Mom when she say "No Luke this is not for you".
And now here is where I must begin my confessions by revealing my indiscretions:
I am not such good boy wif the willpower and restraint when it come to backyard buffet. And what follows is collection (the Mom is wierd) of fings I have brought the Mom in my mouf...
One piece in this collection is missing, on a counta the Mom took it somewhere to be identified. Do you know what these are? No? They are the innerds of acorns.
The Mom is not sure if I ate the outerds or if the squirrels did, and I just picked up their mess. I ain't told yet... and I ain't tellin now! (It good for the Mom to wonder bout few fings)!
And this is real bad pitcher but you see is two rocks what the Mom has pulled outta my mouf. (Told you she was wierd... believe me now?).
For those wif the untrained eye, it is unripened pecan!
Ok, there was this one time, but I am not sure this can be considered stealin... I will let you decide.
Me and also the Bleu (of course) board trolley for destination unknown. Now I am pretty smart boy and I know well in advance when trolley is bein prepared for excursion on a counta the Mom finks she is sneaky and it is dead give-a-way.
So's anyway, the Bleu is sittin and just barely but still whimperin and I am in co-pilot position wif the rear end in the back seat per stated rules and the front end is propped up on console... and the Mom has gone inside to shut off tv and set alarm.
Well... I just happen to notice in front passenger seat that the Mom has packed an "On Board Snack"! And I figure... well, I am on board. Let me snack!
And my-o-my these were tastiest Good Boy Luke snacks I have ever tasted and I thought this is too good to be true as I helped myself to more! And then the Mom open driver door and she say "O no, Luke... that was MY breakfast!"
I not sure it can be counted as stealin on a counta I was unsure that opened package of these fings were the Mom's intended breakfasts and not the mine on-board snack!
Eery-gardless... boy-o-boy were they good! And now any time I smell em... I question ole gal again, you sure these not Good Boy treats???
I have not been on the compy not much at all lately, due to storms and the Mom's responsibilities to GRRH... but I would now like to now spin the Bleu five times and pick some friends to share this experience and award wif (and please accept my apologies if you have all ready received this!)...
Now, here are the rules for this award:
1."When accepting this award, you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans were not watching.
2.If you have never stolen any food, you must have been a really good pup!
3.You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward!
4.Next add the logo of this award to your blog (optional), then nominate at least 5 other furry blogs and let them know by leaving a message on their blogs."
Most of all HAVE FUN!!! I sure did!!!

Day 185: Sneaky Boy
The Mom saw it and she say no it for Lovey, and she put it back. Minutes later I forget she say no but member the octopus, and I get it again. The Mom say no again then put big box in front of tree and then got busy in other room on this here computer... and then I member octopus again and go get him from behind box. Was almost caught cause box made sound when I hopped on top it... but made clean get-way.
So to Cousin Lovey, I sowwy. I not know much bout Christmas custom and did not see name on bag. Luke good boy who sometime do naughty thing.

Day 157: The Great Escape
Mixed feelins bout bein wif the herd. Way happy to see my Aunt Madison and Uncle Tom, and happy to see the herd and enjoy their home and yard, but got big feelins of timidation. Few step in the door and I'm lookin for the trolley keys. Gets better tho. Just gotta be patient.
Things much smoother this time and I all lovin them, they all lovin me and then I'm next for baff and I find hole in fence.
The Mom don't find this too much funny, but when I took off I thought I was still at Aunt Madison's and Uncle Tom's... and when I circled round, I thought I was headed back to the baff area...Good neighbors helped me back to my Uncle Tom... and yeah, well, then who was lost!!! The MOM! Thought she was responsible and then she run way... make great escape. So Aunt Madison stay wif me, help calm my nerves... while Uncle Tom try to find the Mom.
Thinkin she not so accustomed to runnin street alone, might get hit by car. Got no tags no chip, might have to call volunteers, put out posters.
And then my Uncle Tom come back wif her! I all happy, and she all sorta mad but mostly happy. She call me word what rhyme with "you little bird", tell me she love me and kiss me on the nose.
All good and then I find that I next for baff, but that ok cause baff good and then the rubbin and brushin even better.
Had good day minglin wif herd on short leash thereafter. They all trustworthy, I not so much. But we gave the Mom many golden retriever samwiches which she love.
And my Bleu brother took great joy in many pine cones and sticks which made the Mom worry bout our quantity of those great treasures not sure why on a counta he never been and don't live here.
Clean, handsome, tired and the Mom is safe at home. I goin bed now. Good run relax you. Just ask the Mom.

Day 115: Saint Francis In One Peace
The head of his bird was broken off by winds a day before Ike hit, but it's on a counta me that he's been separated torso from lower extremities.Ya see, it went like this... stuff outside went inside and then back outside but not in the same place, just in a place to get it outside from the inside. Luke saw squirrel. Luke leaped what he thought was over and mostly was ceptin poor old Saint Francis to chase said squirrel. Saint Francis fell to the concrete and broke in half at his elbows.
The Mom was upset and Luke felt bad (otherwise he would not speak about himself in the third dog). And the Mom said, and I quote... "I hope this does not come back to haunt us".
Well... neither of us is prepared to say whether it did or did not, but we both know our future is in the Good Lord's hands. Saint Francis took a fall to protect the squirrel that day. And I hope we made it up to him this day.

Day 110: O No... The T Word
Tantrum... which I threw this morning.
Ticked... which the Mom was when I wouldn't let her out the door, afterwards... and I was at her for leaving me.
Thankful... which I am for having a Mom willing to be really late to work in order to be here with me during the storm... and which the Mom is for me not still being ticked when she got home.
Time... which there is never enough of, particularly in the company of those you love.
Treasure... of which love is the best kind.
Troubles... which me and the Mom have known more than our fair (as I deem myself the proper judge of such things) share.
Tumor... which, I gather, for the Mom is a very scary word.
Tears... which she tries to hide but I see well up in the Mom's eyes sometimes.
Tomorrow... for I'm told we don't know what it brings.
Together... which is where I'll be with the Mom, no matter what tomorrow brings.

Day 80: Missed Opportunity
"You'd better stay here. There might be golden retrievers there... and you know how you hate golden retrievers!".
SHOOT! I don't hate em that bad! But based on yesterday, I had no basis to rebutt.

Day 79: Aunts, Uncles, Orvis and Golden Retrievers
- A second breakfast through Jack's window. Mmmmm. Kept putting my nose in the bag!
- Got gas for the tolley. More on that later. Til then... hated it!
- Reversed the trek of of my adoption day, and I began to get a little nervous!
- Anxiety rose on the Lake Woodlands loop-d-loop. As Uncle Tom so eloquently expressed for me... "I got vertigo and I don't even know what vertigo means!".
- Mom parked the trolley and there was lots of interesting things to p on...
- And then I saw another golden retriever ahead of me. Felt compelled to bark, growl and neutralize his p.
- Then we entered this fine establishment by the name of Orvis, which translated into dog means nirvanna.
- Went waggin my tail through there, sniffin all the stuff. I wanted this and that... great stuff in wicker baskets.
- And then I saw them... musta been a dozen ore more golden retrievers. And I did what any self respecting macho boy would do...
- I circled the Mom, came through her legs from the back... and barked my fool head off... to which all others replied!
- Things settled down a bit and I revelled in the sociability and attention of all the peoples there. I was thrilled to see my Aunts Melinda, Karen and Madison... and my Uncle Tom! And I finally got to meet my Aunt Carolyn and Uncle John! Childrens, tottlers and their peoples were welcomed to rub my back and my belly...
- It was the golden retrievers I had a problem with, and Mom wonders why. Equal parts I ain't a dog no more, don't wanna be left behind, don't wanna go wif them and don't want them coming wif me. Mostly it just dredged up a bad memory, I think...
- As great as it was to see family and sniff the stuff, happiest of all moments was leading the Mom back to the trolley!
- Scary moment on the way home, but all's good. Mom's putting the door frame back together, and I'm working on my master centerpiece!
- Life is as it should be! Luke's home... and alone with the Mom!

Day 66: Spa Day!
I always wake up happy and hopeful about the day ahead of me... but never would I have guessed that such a special treat was in store... SPA DAY... at MR. T'S BOUTIQUE!
I'm winding down from my big day, but I couldn't go to bed without giving you the highlights...
- Happy to take a road trip!!!
- Even happier when the trolley veered off the path to Doc Banks' place!
- Destination: Mr. T's Boutique and Day Spa! I rank it Four Paws Belly Up!
- Felt the love right away. Great to see Aunt Madison, Uncle Tom and ALL their kids (and grandkid)!
- Pure unadulterated ROMP!
- Mom says I need to apologize for the 'tude. I guess growlin' in a social environment is considered an indiscretion. I sowwy!
- And I'd be remiss without apologizing for my second indiscretion... but I got this unwritten Golden Rule about "going" as far away from as possible! Sowwy!
- Romp and mischief aside, don't think for a moment that I didn't keep one eye on the Mom! She tried to slip out and get her camera, my towels and brush... I beat her to the door! (So very sorry we didn't get photos though!).
- BAAAAAAAFF!... Can't beat Mr. T's technique (which includes soothing conversation), nor the break he offers between the wash and rinse cycles!
- And what better way to top off da baff... I had Aunt Madison brushin' me while the Mom blotted the wets! Took a long time for fruition, but maybe I AM a special boy!
- Sniffed down the whole house, strictly for investigative purposes. Noone but the pair-of-noid Mom seemed remotely concerned. Ain't sayin' whether I was a good boy or not, but I'll testify to the fact that my extended kin can keep a good secret if I wasn't!
- Joined my welcomin' cousins... truly a friendly herd... and laid 'round the table of good smellin' foods. Let the Mom break bread, and I basked in the sounds of pleasant conversation and laughter.
- Could read the Mom's mind and did not beg. She gave me props later!
- The perfect Apres Spa: Nap on the cool brick floors!
Today set a high mark for the week. I'M LOVIN' THE SECOND LIFE!

Day 56: OOPS! I did it again...
Did the only thing any macho self respecting boy would do, after spending the morning chewing on his own hip...
I hid in the baffroom.
Think, think, think... I said to myself. She's gonna find me. She's gonna ask.I did. She did and she did.
My answer: "A bear bit me!"
The Mom's reply: "Where's the bear?!"
My answer: "It was a bit and run."
I'm not sure she bought it, but phone calls were made, and it seems that she's taking the rest of the day off to take me for a trolley ride. Guessin' Doc Banks will be at the halfway point of the trip.

Day 32: Devil Made Me Do It!
I would like to say that a wild pack of dingos broke in and chewed my tail until I cried for mercy... but there's no way I can explain why the alarm didn't go off.
So I admit it. I sowwy!
Can I make up for it with dashing figure 8's, grass cologne and a LuLu smile?

Day 19: Random Thoughts
- Get to go to see Doc tomorrow. Yip-pee.
- Bactine on my butt makes me sneeze out my nose.
- Benny-drill makes me very sweeee...... pee.
Day 19: I Had A Itch (X Rated)
Mom's first words were... "What the hail did you do to your tail?!"Saturday, June 21, 2008
Day Two: Mom Left Me Alone for the First Time
Day Two: 'See Luke Run', 'Good Boys Do Bad Things'... and Other Tails of Horror
Thus commenced Test #8: She decided to take the garbage out the front door.
Enough was enough, and I nearly knocked her to the floor, butted the door and then the garbage bag clean across the yard... and I was on my way!
First, I went to Aunt Susan's front door, but with the hurried footsteps of 'Mom' and her urgent calls... 'Luke, Luke, Luke... come, come, come'... Well, I decided to spice up life and treat the old gal to an adventure. I was OFF!
I was sniffing as much as I could sniff as I hurried along my way, weaving around from fence to front of house to fence to front of house... I looked back from time to time, to see 'Mom' running barefoot behind me. I sensed the restrained urgency in her voice... and I wagged my tail happily, to let her know, it's ok! It's an adventure!
We rounded the block and started up the other street. Mom made up for lost ground when I was momentarily distracted by a cat that I sent straight up a tree (poor thing, she's probably still up there). We both were panting heavily and eyed each other from opposite sides of that tree. Heck. I even grinned at her... to let her know what a joyous time I was having.
But then I dived under a boat and was on to the next yard. I looked back at Mom hopping over the hitch, and that's when I knew... it's time to go back home. So I doubled back. I couldn't resist checking on the cat one last time, and then I followed her scent up to her front door.
And that's where 'Mama' nabbed me, cornering me on the porch. I was wagging my tail still, but she was NOT pleased. She tightened up my new collar, and bent over... began to walk me slowly to the other side of the street, where a man was watching television in his driveway. (I thought... now I've seen everything... television in a driveway).
She asked the man if he had a rope or a leash that she could borrow. The kind man produced a rope that he tied in fine fashion around my collar, and told her it won't come loose cause that's how he ties up his boat. As we tried to gather our breaths, he also randomly pointed out both the white hairs on my face... and Mama's very bloody paws.
We slowly put out the embers as we retraced the steps of my blazing trail. And while it wasn't nearly as fun (the hobbling of the 'Mom', the tears and the utterances of sad stories, bad mamas and fears, and all), I wagged my tail the entire way.
Once home, though, she told me that my Aunts Karen and Madison and my Uncle Tom would be in their cars on their way over to take me back, if they knew this incident.
The old gal is really taking this hard, and I knew it was best if I found a mischief free zone to cool off and allow 'Mom' to clean, medicate and bandage her bloody paws. And I did just that.
