Day 634: My Out-Of-Doors Birfday Surprise!

If you vist me last few days or weeks, you know my back yard has been half dead / half overgrown. But today durin the SHNOOZIN portion of my Big 11f Birfday Ekhstravaganza... WAAH-LAAAH!

My yard has been cleaned and nurtured and transformed! And I am checkin it out!
It looks barren, but the dead stuff is gone... and the hopeful stuff is left behind!
And here I am... plottin coordinates for buried pecans.
X, Y = RIGHT HERE!
All was going well, UN TILL...

TROUBLE HAPPENED HERE!
I smelled the mulch. I liked how it felt under my foot.

I rolled in it. I wallered in it. I revelled in it. I dropped my cheek deep into it... raised my hip... and I scooted for DAYS in it!!! I did not respond when called in it. The louder my the Mom screamed, the more I revelled in it!!!

Happy Birfday to The Me... wif love to You All from The Me [Just sayin]

P.S. So... My new brush was put to good use in brushin out all the fiber of the mulch... and the Mom also whip out some stuff call "Dry Dog Instant Clean"...
And now I smell like a SWEET BOY! Happy Birfday to the ME!

Day 634: My In-Of-Doors Birfday Surprise!

By now you have figured out today is my Big 11f Birfday Ekhstravaganza! It was a very special day for the me, and my Surprise came in two parts... In and Out-Of-Doors!
I choose first to share wif the you... the part where I did not get into TROUBLE, on a counta it is not so good to get in trouble on your Big 11f Birfday Ekhstravaganza... but I did. [Stay tuned].

Of course, this part came first, timewise, too... or it might not have happened after TROUBLE! Just sayin.
Holiday tradition round here... Special stuff shows up in the special holiday chair! And so it did today!!! And as I shnoof out the loot, the Bleu asks... "Do I smell the berry treats, perchance?"
To which I reply...if "perchance" means "THE LUKE'S", then yes... that's what you smell!
And here I am wif "The Mom May I" look on face... on a counta I have all ready stole "flat quack" twice, when the Mom was not finished wif pitchers and she put him back!

Big Boy must be starvin! He is really just interested in the treats!
And he finks it's never gonna happen... so he begins to fink, "Hmmm... I wonder what hour dinner will be served? I certainly hope that this Ekhstravaganza won't delay the dinner bell!"
As a matter of fact, the Mom try to give the Bleu "Big Froggy"... the Bleu refuse, so I take the him.
And then the Mom offer the Bleu "the flat quack". He refuse, so I take the him, too.
The Bleu is still beggin... but clearly not for toy! Big Boy is hawngry!
He finally settle for "Itty Bitty Porky". He squeak and squeak and squeak...
And I not care on a counta I suckin "the flat quack" and the "Big Froggy". I can't decide which is best at suckin! [Stay tuned for decision at later date].
And the Bleu make clear... "Itty Bitty Porky" ain't rockin he world, ain't fillin he tank, ain't hangin the feed bag for the him.

And here you will see him willin the Luke... "Beg for dinner, as only you can. Dance to the kitchen, as only you can. And do it now... Please?"
And of course, I did!!! I'm all ways willing to take one for the team, specially when it mean GRUB!

Before I post, I want to fank you all for your comments... You have no idea how good they make me feel, after first life, to have people celebrate me. And you have no idea what kinda pick-me-up it is for my the Mom, to have peoples to celebrate HER big days wif!!!!!

Much Love and Big Fanks to You All from the Luke!

Day 633: Be Aware Of Ides of March

Ides of March is very Very VERY important day, and is in fact... one of my most favoritest! I need only look back one short year ago to help me explain how good This Most Special Day in History is...!

The Luke, he DO look handsome and happy in the green shamrock bandana! Fact that bandana was given me by the very special and much loved Aunt Karen... make me smile even more!
Gosh, even the Bleu look super handsome (I say this only in very dudely way one brother say to another, "yo, neckware's cool, Bro...") in he swell green shamrock bandana! This holiday is SWELL!
And as a pair, I fink you will all agree... Holiday becomes us!
Yes Yes YES... Ides of March is one of most specialest days ever... SPECIALLY for last year and for TOMORROW!!!

It day of spoilin and pamperin and toys and treats and more of same.
I cannot wait!!! If you come back tomorrow, there might be a big Ides of March party goin on!!! Just sayin.

Day 632: Springy Saturday

It is a beautiful day wif pleasant on cool side tempy-tures wif plenty sun shine, and I could go on and on bout how I love it, on a counta I REALLY do!!! After all, these weather conditions really complement my fine hairs and favor my Adonis persona... just sayin.
But I'm not the only "rogue and pretty fing" round here...  Here is jasmine bloom, just a few feet from where it was intended to fluorish!
And we are surrounded front and back wif the pink fringe...!
I love my springin forward yard... but I remain intrigued by winter prepartions of local rodent families... and my shnoofer is workin OVERTIME!

Nuts buried...

HERE!

I love the squirrel bounty / buried pecans... but if the Mom shake a bag of berry treats... I cannot help but take off a runnin!
Happy Saturday! It is mostly lazy for the us... but we are likin the it!

Day 631: Friday Fings

The Mom come home early (from work) but not EARLY like we are a customed to, i.e. not early enough to share lunch or our traditional Friday afternoon nap (in fact, I beg for the dinners after first outside... Just sayin).

Here I am near the food bowl, half beggin... half practicin doga. Just sayin.
And here I am... very disapointed that doga did not work... and the Mom does not feel compelled to feed the very hungry me!

The Mom, she did leave VERY early this mornin... but she say it is not even four-o-clock, and we (me and the Bleu) will have to be patient and wait (for reasons unknown, irregardless of clock).
It is one big fing for me to have to wait / suppress my super supper animation for the dinner foods... but the Bleu is beggin, too! We CAN NOT believe it is too early, but we are way OVER RULED.
So we welcome opportunity to snoof and graze, on this beautiful, sunny day!
And I reserve right to turn my head when the Mom snap pitcher!
Good snoofins, what I have been watchin from the back door... This is now what the Mom call "Field Verification"...!
Sometimes detailed field documentation is required... and I am SO there!
Happy Weekend Ever Body! Much love to you all from the Luke (my the Mom, and also the Bleu)!

Day 630: The Balance of Nature / The Yard is Half Overgrown!

This in response to your question, "Is my yard half dead or half overgrown?"... You will see me and the Bleu snoofin our way along huge clusters of clover and also unsightlier weeds. And while we are examinin, our old pre-Ike fence wif the post-Ike fence behind looks half sad, don't it? [Just sayin].
We were told that this extremely cold winter would kill weeds but that is so not true, so we gonna have to do the "weed-n-feed" treatment this weekend, for sure. And tomorrow, Landscape Dude will be here to try and make at least the yard portion of the viewing area presentable!

We need to also formulate plan to cut back and pray for... and/or... replace all the tropicals what we have in the back yard (what is A LOT!). Here is the Bleu sniffin the bottom (naked) branches of a Texas Sage shrub. It will be ok, but behind the him lies a once lush tree philodendron. This is a beautiful plant, but is poisonous if ingested... so the Mom micromanages it's care ALL WAYS and is somewhat conflicted about whether to have all of them (about a dozen) dug up and disposed of... or whether to cut them back and see if they fluorish.
On the overgrown side of the yard... is our jasmine. Just look at it climbin up in the crape myrtle and another tropical! Of course, it not bloomin so much along fence line (where it sposed to)... but still I say... half bloomin!
The Bleu... he is funny boy. And ever body say he is so cute! He is surrounded here by dead stuff, overgrown stuff and a mysterious majestic orb of unexplained energy. (We welcome feedback from all of you who know more a bout stuff like that).
Or maybe it's the Yard's way of sayin... "Holy Crap, the Luke missed a pecan!!!"!
Whoa... What that you say???... Luke miss somefin???
[Note from the Mom: In the Luke's defense... He may have missed a pecan in the yard, but he dug up, rushed inside and proudly produced one that had quite obviously been buried by a squirrel. The Luke calls that "the Balance of Nature".]

Day 628: Under My Pecan Tree Tuesday

It was a beautiful day here today and the varmints were active...  And that mean I am charged wif checkin my pecan tree for the squirrel activity.
Though I have observed and carefully documented their movements from the back door blind, I have now also confirmed their earlier positions wif the pinpoint accuracy of... well, my nose!
And now I move around to back side of tree, where I usually find remains of tree-top picnic. I mean, I have found all kinda tasty fings here... peach pits, plum pits, figs, walnuts, bread and pecans (of course). I even one time found a cigar butt (don't ask)!
And today, I hit the mother load... well, till my the Mom unloaded the big fruit pit (unidentifiable) from my mouf!
Gotta love the springtime... when it ain't stormin!

Day 627: Stormin Springin Monday... and Funny Bleu Stuff

Wif the spring come the storm... and I hate it, most specially on a Monday!

I make sure the Mom anchor herself at home durin worst... and leave me wif the funeral music for the 'just in case'.

On bright side, I share wif you little bit bout my relationship wif the Bleu... Big Boy standin in the doorway, and I pass him on the narrow (squeezin confrontational) side...
To circle round and get the round piggy!
But the big news is that spring weather is here, and the Mom is to adjust her modus operandi as well as her work schedule... accordin to the incomin storms!

Day 626: Prayers for the Checkers

My friend the Checkers is feelin poorly again... and so I humbly go before the St Francis...

And I ask... Please, please, please hear my prayers. And please watch over my best little buddy, the Checkers. He boaf sweet and handsome boy. And he need to feel good.
Just sayin. Just prayin. Just wishin.
