Day 828: Trifecta Saturday Wif A Call To Action, A Video... And The Pet Blogger Hop!

A Call To Action: SEEKING FOREVER FAMILY!
Meet Abigail, a sweet one year old Dachshund mix!

This sweet girl is incredibly smart, enjoys the challenge of training and picks up commands quickly. She's feisty and playful and gets along well with other dogs... and as a lovebug, she lives to please and just be with her people!

Some of you may remember the Ben Franklin. Well, Abigail is his sister!!! She is in Foster Care with Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston. Please help me help her by spreading the word about this most deserving Sweetheart! Contact me or visit grrh.org for more information!

A Video... Or Two!
Join me and the Bleu on last Saturday's walk. I was starting to feel really poorly, so the walk is short. O... and sorry for the abrupt cut in the middle, but some times Nature just calls a boy!

Now we bring it all home wif the Take Two!
I'm happy to report that I am feelin much better this Saturday, but not quite well enough to shoot a walkin video. Gosh, I will miss it! What I won't dare miss, however, is that wonderful tradition...

Day 827: Free Fur All Friday

Hello Friends...

Welcome and Fank You for comin back to visit me!

I have not been feelin well, not well at all... and so therefore also AWOB&FB [Absent WifOut Blog & FaceBook]. Doc says I have a sinus infection, and I'm on Aunty Biotics and double my usual benny drill. My the Mom loves and respects my the Doctor Mark, but she is still afeared that he is not right... so she hover and slather me wif the too much love and concern, and this house is not big enough for the two of us. Just sayin.

The very good news is that my EKG and all my blood work was perfect, and I am feelin a little better each day. Yesterday, I even ran outside... and I might have again today, but we have had the dreaded and funderous conditions. Please to note that I was not too weak to have a mini-NBD!

And ease your worries... Frew it all, I have maintained my boyish good looks, replete wif the handsomeness and maximum CQ (cute quotient)... or so my the Mom says.
And so, in an effort to bring you up to speed and also celebrate the FFA Friday, I offer you a glimpse of some stuff in my Kingdom...

Exhibit A: Toad Stool
(We've had a LOT of rain!)

Exhibit B: Unripened Pecan, Stripped By A Squirrel
(That green sweater they grow in cannot possibly taste good...
but they eat it anyway)

Exhibit C: Texas Sage

Exhibit D: Ginormous Live Oak Leaf... Still Lives!
(My fascination wif this leaf is inexplicable.
Should it ever fall from the tree, I will press it into my scrapbook!)

Yep, though I've not felt very well... I've still slowly surveyed my Kingdom...

Exhibit E: The Perrenial [I can never remember the name of]... in bud.

Exhibit F: The Perrenial [I can never remember the name of]... in bloom.

Exhibit G: (O no!!! I missed last night's blooms of) The Night Cereus
I hate when that happens, on a counta it tells me that I am too busy or too distracted to soak up all the pleasures of every day life... These joyous blooms are, after all, just twelve feet from my back door.
Life is chock full of the lessons. And I am teachin plenty of em to my the Mom. As for the Bleu, Big Boy is boaf auditin and also substitute teachin the course! Just sayin.

Happy Friday, Ya'all!

Day 820: Adoption Is A Golden Opportunity

Today I celebrate 820 glorious days in my Forever Home, but I still remember the 9 long monfs I spent in the shelter. And you know me... ever the hungry boy... so allow me to share wif you an event that is very near and dear to the Luke's heart!

The Pedigree Adoption Drive!

There is no justice to explain how a sweet Golden Retriever (and also brilliant boy) such as myself could end up in a shelter, but over 4 million dogs find themselves in that predicament each year.

Pedigree has created The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive to help shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs. Proper and adequate nutritiion is essential to rescue. And this year, the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive is raising awareness for homeless dogs by donating a bowl of food to shelter dogs for everyone who becomes a “Fan” or “Likes” The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive on Facebook. So far more than 1  million bowls have been donated.

In addition, for each blog that posts about the PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive through September 19th, PEDIGREE® will donate a bag of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dogs to shelters nationwide. It’s simple: Write a post, help a dog... like me!

Day 814: A Mission, A Special Day and Cool Airs (In-Of-Doors)

My the Mom was away and on A Very Special Mission wif the Aunt Karen (more on this later) for most of this very hot day. The Bleu and I were not frilled to miss our mornin walk and considered frowin a poker party wif our Cousins the Rizzi and Zeke, but they were busy wif their kongy(s).

So... this is mostly what I did:
I have shared many such chalk outline pitchers of me in this exact same spot... and I know you fink I'm a glutton for the good foods (and I am) and I lie in wait for the sharin of the foods (and I do). I cannot deny the locale is fabulous, but I present...

Exhibit A: The Biggest Perk
This is the first diffuser out of the blower (aka hole for the cool airs).
Just sayin.

You might wonder what I am finkin as the cool airs blow frew my furs, and I'll tell you... I am finkin of cake and ice cream and a Huge Celebration for the Heidi... Mom to the gorgeous Miss Daisy and her brothers, Tucker and Leo! ... And Very Special Friend to my the Mom!
September 11 is also a tragic day in our country's history.
Please to take a moment to remember...
the innocent, the fallen and their families.
Life will never truly be the same, but I hope you will join me in honorin
the Fire Fighters, Police and our Military who serve us bravely every day.
Remember-9-11
Celebrate our Freedoms. Celebrate our Liberty.
Carry on Life As It Should Be!
This is a country wif SO very many Goodnesses...

Day 810: Rained Out

Just one long day in the bunker wif the Mom tellin me stories about brave boys and treasures.
Please to make the Hermine go away.

Day 809: Big Bang, Baff, Big Booms & Bunker

Our day starts off wif a big bang as we board the trolley for a big surprise adventure, and my excitement grows when I realize we are headed in the direction of Campo Blanco and not any where near Casa de Doctor Mark!

And I was not disappointed when the trolley came to rest at the House of the Herd, and me and the Bleu quickly de-board and trotted off to meet our friends for a romp in their private dog park!

The Bleu had a big time, but I immediately began prognosticatin... I did not like one bit at all what my barometer was tellin me, and I was pretty happy when we all gathered back up to return to...

Oh, no. I almost forgot that House of the Herd on the front... is Mister T Day Spa in the back!
The cool water felt good on this hot day, and the suds and attention took my mind [momentarily] off of the darkenin skies.
Buddy has the right idea. He is inside playin the rug, on a counta he know that rugs don't get baffs.
Why am I first? If I'd had a little warnin, this would not be happenin!
Meanwhile, Dylan and Cane are waitin their turns wif the eagerness of good boys. I promise you, nobody like a good baff like the Cane!
Am I finner than you fought under all my fur???
There is the Bleu workin up his nerve to whisper the sweet nuffins to his girlfriend, the Porter. She is easy to pick out in this pitcher, on a counta she is the only girl!
It won't be long now... I'm on the Rinse Cycle.
Aha ha ha ha. And now it is Big Boy's turn!

Gosh. He's skinny, but he's HUGE! And just like me, he love Uncle Tom, errrrr... Mister T!
I have been brushed and towel dried, but I am nervous nervous nervous. The skies are darkenin; the wind is pickin up; and the peoples are conductin spa business like certain doom is not impending whatsoever.
Me and the Bleu love the attention and sweet nuffins said to us by our the Aunt Madison!

- - - - - - - - - -
Now...
Weatherwise, fings went from mildly upsettin to pretty darn bad quickly. And as much as we hated runnin off and leavin our good friends and family, we abruptly took the Express Trolley [in which I had my first mobile nervous breakdown] back home.

I spent the rest of the day, cocktail in my belly and fundershirt on my back, in the bunker wif my the Mom.

I have come out long enough to eat dinner, do little businesses and write you this note.
I am now back in my shirt, as another band of rain is passin frew. We can hear it rumblin, but it's not nearly as bad as before. Please to the T.S. Hermine, turn the noise down so we can get some sweep tonight!

Oh. And in case you were wonderin.
That spot on the Bleu nose do not wash off!
Just sayin.

Day 808: Sunday Samplin

Fanks to my hungry tummy, me and the Bleu got up early this mornin! We went outside, came inside, was served the tasty breakfast foods, went back outside, came inside, laid on the big bed wif the big lovin, went back outside, laid quietly back on big bed, went back outside, came inside...

And then we were off for a big and happy walk wif the big intentions! Unfortunately mine and the Bleu's intentions didn't exactly coincide wif the Mom's... as for some reason, she forgot to bring along the poop bags... She therefore squelched all of our best efforts to conduct the businesses!

Silly the Mom.

Here I am now wif the first tiny bit of acceptance that she is just not goin to let me stop...

We enjoy the Mission and understand that is why it is called "the walk", however I have this one overridin goal... and that is to take ever opportunity to poop as far away from home as possible.

Just sayin.

Day 807: A Busy Saturday

Fanks to my insistent belly, we got up really early and got our day started wif the tasty breakfast foods!
And then as soon as daylight came... Me and the Bleu took the Mom out for a walk frew our not so scenic but shnoofy filled neighborhood. And inspired by the Miss Khyra and her the Mom and their wonderful Walkin Wednesdays, we did our best to video a small portion of our walk... but it took four takes! [The Phyllis is gooooooood!!!!! She make it look effortless, and I am hear to tell you... it ain't!!!!!]

When we got home, me and the Bleu drained the water bowl a few times, panted a lot and then began to nap. The Mom started cleanin out drawers, dustin, vacuumin, moppin and airin up bicycle tires. And the squirrels launched an air strike of unripened pecan bombs onto the roof of the house, until....

I convinced the Mom to let me go outside! A minute or so later, she saw me in a catatonic state, staring at the oak tree trunk. She called my name, and a squirrel 180 degrees around the trunk scurried up the tree. The Mom began filming as quickly as she could.
Those tenacious squirrels kept the assault up all afternoon, and here I am workin the pecan tree!
I know they're up there. If only I could climb this tree...!
I did not catch a squirrel today, and that failure didn't bother me nearly as much as my inability to negotiate the obstacle course banishment from the kitchen, as the floors were bein deep cleaned!

All in all, it's been a great day. We may not have done spectacular fings, but we did mildly adventurous fings... TOGETHER. And that's what's important!
----- ----- ----- ----- -----

And now I hope you'll join us on the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop for some some very interestin tails told by some swell Pet Bloggers. And for details and rules on how to join the fun, please head over to Nigel's place at Life With Dogs!

Day 806: My Week & The 'thundershirt' In Review

This week, we have had cause for Big Celebration, on a counta this marks the first few days that my the Mom has her life back (from the factory)!
Sadly, it has also been a funderous week wif the loud skies and yet very little rain... that has tested my new fundershirt, big time!

I am not yet ready to endorse the fundershirt just yet, but I can say four fings about it:
  1. I fink I spent more time on the bed and outta the bunker.
  2. I for sure don't mind wearin it.
  3. I am uber handsome in it.
  4. The Bleu is jealous on a counta I have one and he does not.
Just sayin.
